Most of Gmail users do use gmail.com for chatting and keep checking their browser every 2-3 minutes (yes! That includes me too). I think Google has addressed this problem by adding the desktop notification feature in Gmail for new chat messages and emails.
How to turn on desktop notification in Gmail?
To turn the feature on, click on Settings in the upper right corner of Gmail, scroll down and choose whether you want to be notified of chat messages, e-mails, or only important e-mails.
This new feature is HTML5-based and currently works only in Chrome, but Google says it’s working to make notification part of the standard web platform. It will definitely increase no of Chrome browser users.
Does new introduced desktop notification will be helpful for you? Or are you going to shift on chrome to use the desktop notification feature?
