phishers targeting brazilian football fans

Phishers and Hackers do not leaves any single opportunity and Yes! the did the same for upcoming football world cup 2010.This phishing attack contains a poorly edited image of Brazil's coach badly beaten Dunga and a fake news story about an assault after he failed to pick Neymar and Ganso for his South Africa squad.

According security solution provider McAfee analysis of this spam –“In a recent spam–that appeared to be a page from a popular Brazilian newspaper–we read that the Brazilian soccer team coach Dunga had been involved in an assault. He was apparently punched in the face by two angry fans who were unhappy that he had not selected two players–Neymar and Ganso–in his 23-man roster for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa this month.”

According to McAfee, clicking on the enclosed link routes the user through a Taiwanese domain to a Trojan program hosted on a compromised web server belonging to the Malaysian government(according the domain .GOV.MY ) and which appears to be hacked. The Trojan, dubbed PWS-Banker, is a keylogger designed to steal usernames and passwords for its victims' online banking services.

As only 7 days are remaining to world cup 2010 there are going to be more scam like this in coming days.Make sure you do not fall for any of these.
